Video Game Programming On The Fly (part 1)

Ok so I really hated that metal song I had as the music before. Being that I can’t put my original mix up, you can enjoy some classical piano :-p I’m getting alot of questions so let me answer it here. This isn’t windows XP,vista,7 or mac. Its linux. For windows game programming check out my other videos. I used the KDE environment’s kwrite editor (no IDE) and the free gcc compiler that comes with linux. I ran it from the commandline which is how i work when I make small projects. Follow me through the process of creating and programming a simple video game in a short period of time. I had no plan before hitting record. This is what i came up with. Game code is available at my web site ltsword.allegronetwork.com The library I used is called Allegro and is available for free at http

@Consumerofknowledge matrix transformations are typically used for 3D games. For 2D games its not necessary (in my opinion)

  2. Consumerofknowledge says:

@concavator Isn’t there something called matrix math? I think I remember looking something like that up…complex.

  3. Consumerofknowledge says:

hmmm, programming. ALthough I’d rather design and create things and make things move, this is interesting yo say the lest.

A true masterpiece…such fluid development, knowledge of GIMP that any of us would die for, and the music was enchanting. It was a pleasure to watch this vid :D I’m a Ubuntu user and I hope to be a dev someday :D

Yes, you can use Allegro on Mac or Windows. In fact, Allegro is even supported in multiple computer languages. You can use it in Python, C#, and FreeBASIC.

  13. XaTrIxX2 says:

Allegro IS cross platform, yes. That’s no real IDE, it’s a simple texteditor!

  14. This isn’t necessarily linux only, isn’t allegro cross platform?

  15. Nitros8891 says:

Some of the logic shown here is similar to the logic flow in my own game. I guess that should be a sign that I’m not completely screwing it up?
